Woodland cottage

We walked passed a tired playhouse. It stood in shadow and the original image lacked depth, tone mapping helped. The result appears painterly and perhaps, to your taste, overdone. I like to think the storybook feel is fitting.

  1. I think your treatment has given it an interesting quality of light … almost midday but without the harsh contrast. I think that it is quite unique with the eyebrow window and curved roof following the shape of the door … or the other way around.

  2. Reminds me of Dorothy’s house in Oz! Would love to open the door and see who’s living inside. Love it.

  3. That’s one of the most remarkable playhouses I’ve seen. You’re right that it has a storybook feel. As for the painterly effect, I think you’re right there, too. You may be amused (or not) to know the painter who came to mind the minute I saw the photo was Thomas Kinkaid. I suppose it’s the combination of English cottage, light in the window, and multicolored foliage. It certainly gave me a smile.
