Lovely, and, yes, I did count the syllables in case you’re wondering.
Beautiful! Your new niche – the biology-inspired haiku? 🙂
What I like about it in particular is that you prove that so-called ‘jargon’ and foreign words can be used in artistic ways!
Perhaps I should follow that suggestion … to use scientific terminology (often clouded in mystery) in artistic and in poetic ways. Maybe I’ll think about giving it a try. Thanks Elke.
Wonderful image and poem! Gorgeous clarity and detail of the fiddlehead. Love the final line of the haiku. Great title too!
That spiral is doing a pretty good imitation of an ellipse.
Not sure which is best, the haiku or the image. The combination is perfect. Both simple and concise! This is a Fiddlehead fern, right? Are they edible?
Fiddleheads are edible, and considered a delicacy, but the one shown here is not a particularly common variety.

Oooo … I like ‘distilling moonlight,’ quite well. Thanks for participating. D
Sublime! Is that a haiku?
5-7-5 …. yup.
