Mack

There’s a really interesting small-holding down on the River Road. Although I’ve never seen anyone walking about, there is a defunct greenhouse on the place and several years ago there were also a couple of sheep. The centerpiece of this place however is the vintage Mack Truck (Model F perhaps) which sits, complete and hitched to a flatbed, in the front yard. It is a COE (cab over engine) type which Mack produced back in the 1960s. In the seventeen years we’ve been here I’ve never seen it move  – not an inch. In my imagination I can see its owner coming home one day, fed up, and simply parking it – and there it has sat.
